FAQ
Questions people bring to the first meeting
If yours isn’t here, call any office and ask.
Do I need a lawyer for a small claim?
Not always. If your injuries were minor and the insurer is being fair, you may not. We’ll tell you so at the free meeting.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Whatever you have: the police report number, photos, insurance letters, medical bills and the names of anyone who saw it. Don’t worry if you have none of it yet.
Washington or Idaho: which state’s law applies?
Usually the state where the crash or fall happened, but not always. Where everyone lives and which policies apply also matter. We’re admitted in both, so we can file where it belongs.
What if I was partly at fault?
You may still have a claim. Both states reduce a recovery by your share of fault, but the rules differ in the details, so it’s worth asking.
How much is my case worth?
Nobody can say honestly at the first meeting. It depends on your medical bills, lost wages, how your recovery goes and the insurance available. We’ll give you a realistic range once we know more.
How do your fees work?
A percentage of what we recover, set out in writing. No recovery, no attorney’s fee. Case costs are separate; your agreement says whether you would repay them if the case doesn’t recover.
Can I switch lawyers if I already hired one?
Yes. You can change lawyers at any time. We’ll handle the file transfer and the fee between the firms.
Do you take workers’ compensation cases?
Not on their own. If you were hurt on the job by someone other than your employer, like a driver, we may be able to bring that claim alongside your workers’ comp.
Didn’t find your question here?
Call the office nearest you. A lawyer answers, and the first meeting is free.
